WITW Drives are led by a select group of veteran attendees whose first responsibility is the safety of all those involved. We have fun, but we are serious about driving responsibly, being courteous to other drivers, motorcycles, and cyclists, and take staying between and mayo & mustard very seriously. Anyone driving outside of these simple rules will be asked to leave the current drive.
Drives will be noted as Spirited, Moderate & Casual with possible additional descriptors depending on the drive.
Spirited WITW drives are the most seasoned drives where you can let your car stretch it’s legs. All posted speed limited are obeyed but group will move at a faster pace. These drives are recommend for those with past WITW experience. Some drives may be marked Spirited+ and these drives require past experience.
Moderate drives can be difficult to describe. They will have a mix of spirited and casual driving depending on portion of the drive. The focus here is that no one (including passengers) are breaking a sweat and able to take in the sights where appropriate.
Casual drives have a focus on scenic routes and taking in all the beautiful views the area has to provide. There will typically be more stops and breaks than the other 2 designations have. This is the pace you’d drive if you were taking your significant other out to dinner and back. This level allows for drivers of all skills levels & experience to enjoy the mountain roads.
Most drives will stage 15 minutes before departure. Please be on time and respect other participants. Drives will leave promptly at their noted departure time. If you’re late and miss your group that’s on you. Most drives will stage in the parking lot in front of the Fontana Grill & Rec hall (where RBQ/safety meeting is located) unless otherwise noted.
