2016 Cruise Information

It’s really hard to plan cruises now that we have so many people attending. Please feel free to hang out in the parking lot in front of the grill/event hall and there will be multiple groups departing for each cruise. Or just get on your radio (channel 3 sub 2 and find some people to cruise with!)

Remember to always drive at a pace that is comfortable to you. If you’re a slowpoke like the webmaster is. Feel free to hang back and allow others to lead the way.

Know the rules:

We want everyone to have an enjoyable, incident free vacation, so please take these rules seriously.

  • STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE ROAD.
  • Don’t outdrive yourself.
  • Be courteous to all.

NOTE

All cruises will depart from the main parking lot between the car wash and main rec hall as noted on the Fontana Village map.

Friday 4/15 @ 11:30 AM Bridal Veil Falls Cruise to Highlands, NC.

After the Safety meeting and Shirt/RBQ hand out we’ll be heading out. We’ll be heading first to Robbinsville to gas up then cutting through the Nantahala National forest on our way to the town of Highlands. This is basically an all day event featuring some of the best driving & scenic roads in the state. We’ll stop for lunch in Highlands and there are a bunch of options and other shopping if that’s your thing. Then we’ll loop back around and eventually end up back at the resort.

Please feel free to print out this map and take a peek before the event so you have a general idea of where we are headed, especially if for some reason you get separated. Note that Google maps states this is about a 5 hour loop not taking into account any stops for gas or food.

Saturday 4/16 @ 1:30 PM Cherohala Skyway Cruise

After the Sound Off and Dragon Parade we’ll be doing one of the most famous loops in the area, the Cherohala Skyway. More info here.

This is one of the cooler roads we think you’ll ever see and eventually loop back into TN and then back to the resort via the Dragon.

Again, please feel free to print out this map and take a peek before the event so you have a general idea of where we are headed, especially if for some reason you get separated. Note that Google maps states this is about a 4 hour loop not taking into account any stops for gas. This means there isn’t a whole lot of time to mill around after the sound off in order to get back in time for the RBQ!

If anyone has other cruise ideas or wants to lead a cruise, please email us and we will post it up here!
